Many local residents have been letting us know they are interested in finding out what KANDO, your local community development & action group, is up to. I hope the following assists in providing a clearer understanding of what KANDO’s role actually is:
1. With tolerance and respect, we listen to & identify what residents are currently talking about, what discussions are going on around the place and what is of broad public interest to people living in the Kinglake Ranges
2. We research & follow-up on current topics and gather the most accurate & available data and then assess & categorize what topics are being discussed
3. Needs and issues are prioritised as perceived by the majority of local residents
4. The best plan possible is developed using all of our available resources, and volunteer capacity to advocate for what we have prioritised
5. Relevant organisations/people on a local and non-local level are advocated to assist us with problem-solving for prioritised issues
6. We seek out new and innovative ways to work in collaboration with relevant bodies and individuals
7. Organisations and people are met to discuss issues and problem-solve together
8. Anything else which may be needed, is done; writing funding grant submissions, submitting an Expression of Interest for a project or program, writing a report, contacting a politician or organisation
9. KANDO reports any relevant news, developments and outcomes back to Kinglake Ranges communities as soon as possible via phone, email, local print media, notice boards, school newsletters and general meetings
10. Continuous evaluation of all these processes is undertaken to make KANDO work better for the community
11. We share and respect what we have learnt and strive to understand what is working / not working with other organisations & people
